Build a complete overseas fellowship budget
Estimate the cost of applying, relocating and living through the whole training period.Separate known and unknown costs
Record application, exam, registration, visa, insurance, travel, housing and dependent costs. Mark unpublished items as unknown.
Model cash timing
A funded position can still require substantial pre-arrival cash. Note when deposits and fees are due versus the first salary payment.
Stress-test the plan
Include currency movement, delayed registration, emergency travel and a realistic contingency. Do not treat an unconfirmed stipend as income.
