We prioritize official programme, hospital, university, department, national recruitment and surgical-society pages. Unofficial directories may support discovery but are not accepted as final evidence.
Public methodology
Trust begins with transparent data.
SurgFellow distinguishes programme existence from current application availability. Every published record must link to an official institutional or professional source.
Status discipline
An accessible webpage does not mean applications are open. “Open” is used only when an official source confirms an active period. Otherwise we display recurring, announced, closed or availability not confirmed.
Participation
Clinical fellowship does not automatically mean hands-on. Participation is classified as supervised clinical, mixed, observational, research-only or not publicly clarified.
International eligibility
Missing information is never converted into assumed eligibility. We separate explicitly international, may accept international applicants, restricted, and unclear pathways.
Completeness
Completeness reflects publicly available fields—not programme quality. Missing salary, fee, visa, registration or deadline data are labelled rather than estimated.
Corrections
Programme teams and users can submit official evidence for updates. Corrections are reviewed against the source before publication.
