Surgical fellowships for doctors trained in Venezuela

A planning checklist, not legal advice. Requirements change; confirm each item with the regulator and the programme.

01

Verify your credentials first

Gather documents from your Colegio de Médicos or Federación Médica Venezolana registration and the university that issued your degree and specialty title. Ask each destination regulator whether it requires primary-source verification, which exams apply, and how long registration takes.

02

Plan for language evidence

Working language for your documents: Spanish. Many programmes and regulators ask for official translations and an approved language test. Check which tests and scores each destination accepts.

03

Where to look first

Country directories on SurgFellow list only official-source programme records. Counts below come from the current directory.

  • Spain — 3 official-source programme records
  • Mexico — 3 official-source programme records
  • Argentina — 6 official-source programme records
  • Colombia — 3 official-source programme records
  • Peru — 1 official-source programme record
  • United States — 775 official-source programme records

A listing does not mean every nationality is eligible. Confirm eligibility with the programme.

04

Settle these before you apply

  • Whether the role is clinical, research or observership, and what you may do with patients
  • Which regulator registration applies, and who sponsors the visa
  • Total budget: fees, exams, visa, travel, housing, insurance and income foregone
  • Salary or fee, supervision and start date in writing
