Institutions use fellowship, visiting fellowship, attachment and observership differently. The programme description and local rules matter more than the label.
Clinical participation
A clinical pathway may involve patient care and supervised procedures, but only when the institution and regulator permit it. Confirm scope, indemnity and registration in writing.
Observership
An observership usually excludes direct patient care. It can still be valuable for technique exposure, workflow, multidisciplinary learning and professional relationships.
